LONDON - A man emerged from a two year coma and managed with his only usable finger to tap out a vital message that he had been victim of an assault that paralysed him, and not an accident, as earlier thought.

Mr Geoffrey Wildsmith (21) was found with head injuries in a train corridor near Guildford, southwest of London. It was previously believed that he had leaned out of a carriage and struck his head against another train or a tunnel.
