A man died yesterday after falling into the River Shannon near Leitrim town

A man died yesterday after falling into the River Shannon near Leitrim town. His body was and taken to Carrick-on-Shannon hospital. A post-mortem will be carried out tomorrow.

A post mortem is to be carried out today on a 63-year-old fisherman who drowned off west Cork at the weekend. The body of the man, from Ballydelvin near Goleen, was found in the water off Rock Island early yesterday.

A seven-year-old Co Cork boy, injured when a car hit his bicycle on Thursday, has died. The boy sustained serious head injuries in the accident on the Millstreet to Currarague Road near Banteer.
