An Air Corps helicopter from Baldonnel was also called to rescue a man from a rock off Howth Head yesterday morning when the alarm was raised shortly after 7 a.m. It is understood the man fell on to Casana Rock some time around midnight on Saturday, and sustained head, rib and ankle injuries.

The Howth inshore lifeboat was called and attended to the man while the helicopter was en route. He was winched up and taken to St Vincent's Hospital.
