One man has died and four people were injured in a crash in Co Wexford today.

One man has died and four people were injured in a crash in Co Wexford today.

The two-car crash happened eight miles outside New Ross in Ballinabolla on the Wexford Road at 1.25 p.m.

Two of the injured are in a serious condition, a Garda spokeswoman said. All four injured were taken to hospital. The dead man has not been named as yet.

Gardaí  have yet to name the lorry driver who was killed when his vehicle crashed and overturned in Co Cavan last night.

The lorry crashed on a bend at Tierahood, Stradone, on the road between Cavan town and Bailieboro at around 6.00 p.m. Gardaí said there were no other vehicles involved.

The body of the dead man, who was in his fifties, was brought to Cavan General Hospital where a post-mortem is being carried out this afternoon.

One hundred and nine have died on the State's roads since the beginning of the year.
