A man is due to appear in court in Belfast today in connection with an attack on a couple in the city at the weekend.
A PSNI spokesman said a man armed with a hammer and screwdriver entered a house in Grove Street East on Saturday evening and attacked a man in the living room. The victim was treated in hospital for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.
A woman, who was also in the house, escaped with minor injuries.
A 44-year-old east Belfast man has been charged with attempted murder, assault, aggravated burglary and possession of offensive weapon following the attack and will appear in Belfast Magistrates Court later today.
