Man held after €200,000 heroin haul in Dublin

A man is being held by gardaí following the seizure of heroin worth €200,000 in Dublin last night.

A man is being held by gardaí following the seizure of heroin worth €200,000 in Dublin last night.

The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested following the search of a car on St Laurence's Road, Ballyfermot last night. Gardaí stopped the car at about 8pm as part of an operation carried out by the Garda Organised Crime Unit.

They uncovered the package, which was later determined to contain about 1kg of heroin.

The man was taken to Ballyfermot Garda station, where he is being held under under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act. He can be detained for up to seven days.
