Man held after device found in north Dublin

A man in his 40s was taken into Garda custody following the discovery of a suspect device in north Dublin.

A man in his 40s was taken into Garda custody following the discovery of a suspect device in north Dublin.

He is being held under the Offences Against the State Act at Lucan Garda station following the search of a house on the Cabra Road north Dublin this morning.

The Army Explosives Ordnance Unit were called in after the discovery of the suspect device. It was taken to the ballistics section at Garda headquarters at he Phoenix Park for further examination.

It is understood the gardai were conducting the search in relation to a suspected firearms offence.

A laneway to the house was sealed off but the Army have now left the scene.
