Gardaí in Cork have arrested a man for questioning about a slash hook attack on another man in the city yesterday evening.
The incident happened at around 6.50pm yesterday when a 33-year-old man was attacked as he sat in the front garden of his home at Cushing Place in Farranree.
The man was struck on the back of the head by another man armed with a slash hook and he suffered a serious injury to his head which required medical treatment.
Gardaí later arrested a 42 year old man in the Farranree area and brought him to Mayfield Garda station for questioning about the incident.

The man was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act which allows gardaí detain suspects for up to 24 hours.
