A man in his 20s was being detained overnight by Limerick garda∅ in connection with the death of a 74-year-old man in the city early last Thursday morning.
A caretaker found Mr Joseph O'Doherty lying dead on his bedroom floor at a sheltered housing scheme on Good Shepherd Avenue. It is believed he may have been hit with a fire extinguisher. A young man discovered at the scene ran when the caretaker arrived.
Garda∅ arrested a man in the city yesterday and he was being detained this morning at Henry Street Garda station.
