A man drowned in a swimming accident in Wexford last night. The man in his early 30s was at Wexford harbour with friends when the incident happened.
He decided to go for a swim at about 8pm. However, after just a couple of minutes in the water he became caught in a current.
The emergency services were called. The search for the man lasted more than 1½ hours. The body was recovered after 10pm.
The man was declared deceased by a doctor at the scene and his body was removed.
