A man charged with the murders of three women after body parts of two of them were found dumped in rubbish bins and his apartment was remanded in custody by London magistrates today.

Mr Anthony John Hardy (51) who is unemployed, was remanded until January 13th, when he is expected to appear before London's Old Bailey central criminal court to make a plea.

Today, he was asked by Hendon Magistrates' Court, north London, to confirm only his name, address and age.

The murder inquiry began last Monday when a pieces of two human legs belonging to a woman wrapped in a plastic rubbish bag were found at the back of a pub in Camden, north London.

Police later found seven other body parts in rubbish bins, as well as a torso. The body parts belonged to a 29-year-old prostitute and a 34-year-old woman.

Mr Hardy's other alleged victim was a prostitute whose body was found at his flat in Camden in January last year. It was thought at the time that she had died of a heart attack. But following the discovery of the body parts, Mr Hardy, arrested last Thursday, was also charged with her murder.
