Gardaí in Limerick are investigating after a man was shot in the side of the head last night.

The shooting is believed to have been part of a family feud in the city.

A Garda spokesman confirmed a man walked into the Roxborough Road station and reported to the gardaí that he had been shot in the side of the head by a shotgun shortly after 11 p.m.

He was taken to hospital but has since been released with only minor injuries.

It is understood the man is Anthony Kelly, brother of Michael Kelly, the former Limerick councillor who died of gunshot wounds last July.
