A man who sold fake car insurance certificates to immigrants was fined and ordered to carry out 240 hours' community service yesterday.

Agunloge Bamidele (28), Willowbrook Lawns, Celbridge, Co. Kildare, admitted selling the counterfeit certificates to three people between February and June last year.

Judge Patrick Brady fined Bamidele £550, ordered him to pay £250 compensation, and remanded him to September for a probation report. He is to carry out 240 hours' community service as an alternative to 12 months' imprisonment.
