A MARRIED couple were treated in hospital after a so called punishment beating at their home in Coleraine, Co Derry.
They were talking to a visitor in their home in the Ballysally area of the town when five masked men - one armed with a handgun, the others with hammers and baseball bats - burst in around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
The man suffered a broken arm and several bruises. The woman was struck on the arm a number of times. The couple were treated in hospital and the husband was detained.
Meanwhile, a man was being questioned by police last night after two guns were found in a car in south Belfast on Tuesday night. The weapons were discovered after the car was stopped around 8 p.m. at Donegall Road.
