A man who claimed his sister owed him £8,000 which he had lent to her was bound to the peace for two years at Tralee Circuit Court for threats he made to her from the body of the court.

"If I don't get the money, I will cause damage to my sister," said Michael Kennedy, of Kilshannig, Castlegregory, who, when asked if he was intimidating his sister, said: "I'm only starting, that's all."

Judge Sean O'Leary ordered that the sister, Ms Anne Kennedy, of Upper Strand Street, Tralee, repay £7,000 at the rate of £1,000 per annum from that date.
