A Vietnamese man who had a baby with an Irish woman was warned that he was not to even consider snatching the baby but could apply for access through the family law courts.

Mr Thuyan (Andy) Mao (35) appeared in Kilmainham District Court on a charge of possession of a knife and damaging the furniture of his ex-girlfriend's house at St Mark's Crescent, Clondalkin, Dublin on January 28th last.

Judge John J. Neilan heard the charges arose when the seven-year relationship broke up. The injured party and defendant were the parents of a baby girl.

The judge remanded Mr Mao on £400 bail to February 11th, on condition that he lives at Kiloran Court, Clontarf, stays away from Clondalkin and does not contact the injured party.
