A man who claimed he was assaulted by US actor Woody Harrelson in a Dublin nightclub has settled his High Court action over the alleged incident.

Eamonn Cullen claimed the actor assaulted him with a snooker cue at Renards nightclub, trading as Engelson Ltd, in September 2001 as a result of which he allegedly suffered a split lip requiring 12 stitches and a damaged tooth.

Mr Cullen, Artane, Dublin, initiated an action claiming damages for personal injury, assault and battery, loss and expense. Proceedings were initially brought in 2004 against Engelson Ltd, South Frederick Street, Dublin.

Mr Harrelson, who starred in the Oliver Stone film Natural Born Killers and played bartender Woody in the TV sitcom Cheers, was later joined as a co-defendant.
