The President Mary McAleese today sent greetings to the Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles on their marriage which is due to take place in Britain today.
The couple, who first met 35 years ago, will be married in a short civil service at Windsor's Guildhall, attended by all the senior royals apart from the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.
In a short letter to Charles today, Mrs McAleese said: "I have pleasure in sending warm greetings to you and your family on the happy occasion of your wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles."
The note from the president's Aras an Uachtarain residence added: "I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my best wishes to the people of the United Kingdom."
Today's civil service will be followed by a blessing in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle and a reception for 800 guests, including the Queen and the Duke.
Mrs Parker Bowles will become the Duchess of Cornwall. The wedding was due to be celebrated yesterday but was postponed by a day to allow the Prince attend the funeral of Pope John Paul II in Rome.
