Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy this afternoon said he was confident, that despite several players sitting out training today, he will have a full squad to choose from for the first leg of the World Cup play-off against Iran at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.
Steve Finnan, Dean Kiely, Steven Reid and Matt Holland missed training both today and yesterday while Kevin Kilbane trained yesterday but was rested today. McCarthy stated that he felt the Sunderland midfielder "did enough yesterday".
Roy Keane will join the team tomorrow and having spoken to Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson, McCarthy was reassured that his captain would be available to play.
"I've just spoken to Alex and the only real problem with Roy is that he hasn't been training. His injury is a niggle more than anything and he has had his rest now." said McCarthy.
"Alex hasn't got any problem with him playing."
