Wayne McCullough's dream to fight again in Belfast will become a reality on November 2nd at Maysfield Leisure Centre.
At a press conference in Belfast, Pocket Rocket McCullough today said that he had been waiting for two frustrating years to get back fighting in his home city.
McCullough had been set to fight in October 2000 when he failed a brain scan and then thought his career was over but in August received a British Boxing Board of control licence and returned to the ring last month with a fourth round victory over South African Johannes Maisa at Bethnal Green's York Hall.
"I was very pleased with my performance at the York Hall and I was delighted with the support that I got in London," said McCullough, who is managed by wife Cheryl.
"But the reason I fought to get my licence was so that I could fight in my homeland - that is what I have got.
"It was written into my contract with Frank Warren that I would have at least one fight in Belfast and one in Dublin because Ireland is where I want to box."
McCullough, still waiting for an opponent, will share top billing with British welterweight champion Neil Sinclair - who also has world title ambitions.
Hard-hitting Belfast man Sinclair wants to get his hands on a Lonsdale belt outright before taking on the best in the world.
He said: "I want to join the great British fighters who have won this great belt outright. It's very prestigious and I'm delighted I can defend it in Belfast."
