Former Armagh All-Ireland winning captain Kieran McGeeney was tonight confirmed as Kildare's new manager with Paul Grimley named as his assistant.
McGeeney, who only called time on his playing career last month, has wasted little time moving into management and will take charge of the Lilywhites with immediate effect.
At a meeting of the Kildare county board last night, the 35-year-old was unanimously ratified along with Grimley while a third member of the management team will be appointed in the coming weeks.
During an illustrious 17-year playing career, McGeeney led Armagh to their only All-Ireland title in 2002 and also represented Ireland in the International Rules series against Australia.
