GAA:Michael Meehan has been ruled out of Galway's SFC All-Ireland qualifier against Wexford at Pearse Stadium this Saturday due to an ankle injury he picked up last weekend.

Meehan sustained ligament damage during last weekend’s Connacht SFC semi-final to Sligo. He was previously sidelined since March with injury.

“I got the injury scanned on Monday and while it is just a sprain it could take a few weeks,” said Meehan. “I will definitely not play against Wexford and if we get through, I will just have to wait and see for the following week.”

Elsewhere Dublin midfielder Eamonn Fennell is doubtful for Saturday’s qualifier against Tipperary at Croke Park. Fennell’s training has been restricted because of a hip injury.
