A severe weather warning has been issued across Ireland as gales and possible flooding are predicted for tonight.
Met Éireann said winds are likely to reach as high as 80 knots (150km/h) in parts of Ulster, Connacht and north Leinster, and that high tides in excess of 10 metres will hit Atlantic coasts.
The south and southwest, which was badly hit by storms yesterday, are expected to see slightly lower wind speeds of between 60 and 65 knots.
The Irish Coast Guard has advised people to avoid coastal areas if possible as the combination of tides, gale-force winds, high seas and swollen rivers may result in very dangerous conditions.
Motorists have been warned tonight that a number of trees have been felled by the wind on some western roads in Cos Mayo, Limerick and Galway.
AA Roadwatch said motorists should avoid driving during high winds if possible, stay clear of exposed roads, roads on high ground and costal roads and watch out for fallen debris.
