NFL round-up:The Denver Broncos staged a stunning late rally to extend the Miami Dolphins' losing streak to six games at the start of the NFL season. Having been kept scoreless for 54 minutes, the Broncos (2-4) and quarterback Tim Tebow, in particular, hit back in remarkable fashion.
Tebow threw two touchdown passes in the final 2:44 minutes of the fourth quarter to force overtime, and Matt Prater’s 52-yard field goal gave them an improbable 18-15 victory.
The defeat leaves Miami 0-6 for the season and, having also lost their last three games of last season, the pressure is sure to mount further on embattled coach Tony Sparano.
Arian Foster ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns as the Houston Texans reclaimed the lead in the AFC South from Tennessee by beating the Titans 41-7. Matt Schaub threw for 296 yards and two touchdowns as the Texans improved their record to 4-3.
Tennessee (3-3) have now lost two straight with the fans turning on Chris Johnson, who finished with 18 yards on 10 carries.
Wide receiver Plaxico Burress caught three touchdown passes as the New York Jets beat the San Diego Chargers 27-21. The Jets (4-3) were trailing 21-17 when a drive initiated by Darrelle Revis’ interception resulted in Mark Sanchez picking out Burress for a three-yard touchdown and the decisive score.
Nick Folk’s 30-yard field goal with 1:36 left increased the advantage to 27-21 and killed off the Chargers (4-2).
Cam Newton threw for 256 yards and ran for 59 more to guide the Carolina Panthers to a 33-20 defeat of the Washington Redskins. Washington’s John Beck threw for 279 yards and scored on a short keeper in his first start in four years for Washington (3-3).
Phil Dawson converted two field goals over 50 yards as Cleveland (3-3) beat Seattle (2-4) 6-3 in a dour encounter, while Matt Ryan ran and threw for touchdowns to inspire the Atlanta Falcons (4-3) to a 23-16 victory against the Detroit Lions (5-2).
Matt Forte ran for 145 yards and a touchdown as the Chicago Bears beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-18 at Wembley. Jay Cutler threw for 226 yards and a touchdown and the Bears (4-3) intercepted Josh Freeman four times for their second win in a row.
In the day’s later games, Aaron Rodgers threw for three touchdowns and 335 yards as the Green Bay Packers made it seven wins from seven with a 33-27 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings’ star running back Adrian Peterson rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown but it was not enough to prevent his team slipping to 1-6.
DeMarco Murray ran for a franchise-record 253 yards as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the St Louis Rams. Murray also registered a 91-yard touchdown, the second longest in Cowboys history, as the Rams’ winless start to the campaign stretched to six games.
Ben Roethlisberger threw the longest pass play in his team’s history as the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals 32-20. Roethlisberger set a new record with a 95-yard pass to Mike Wallace, on his way to a total of 340 yards.
Oakland quarterbacks Kyle Boller and Carson Palmer combined for six interceptions as the Raiders slumped to a 28-0 defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. Kendrick Lewis and Brandon Flowers returned two of the interceptions for touchdowns for the rampant Chiefs.
