Barcelona's Brazilian international Rivaldo has signed a three-year contract for AC Milan, the Serie A side announced on their website overnight.

Rivaldo, the 1999 World Footballer of the Year, left Barcelona last weekend despite having a year to run on his contract. AC Milan, owned by Silvio Berlusconi, will pay Rivaldo 4.8 million euros a year plus other publicity bonuses. The transfer fee however was not immediately revealed.

Milan official Ariedo Braida has been in Sao Paulo since Thursday where the final negotations were made before the announcement of the move."I'm looking forward to the Milan derby against my teammate Ronaldo at Inter," said Rivaldo after signing the contract."He's my friend, and we showed that during the World Cup, but now we play for different Italian clubs. I think the first match between AC and Inter Milan will be the main attraction of the Italian championship."
