Belgrade - Slobodan Milosevic stepped boldly back into the spotlight yesterday after more than a month of seclusion, appealing for party unity in his first television appearance since being forced to quit as Yugoslav president.

The report on Yu-Info, a station widely regarded as having close links to Milosevic, also said the meeting had shown great support for the former president to be reelected as leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia at a congress due on Saturday.
