The Minister for Tourism and Sport, Dr McDaid, yesterday visited the Cratloe home of Clare hurler Michael Murphy (18), who died during a game on Saturday, reports Gordon Deegan.

The young man died shortly after suffering a brain haemorrhage during an under-21 Clare championship tie.

He is survived by his father Pat, his mother Eileen, brothers Thomas and Alan and sister Ciara. His funeral Mass is to take place in Cratloe church at 12 p.m. today.
