Bogota - Colombia's top beauty queen threatened yesterday to sue US television talk show host David Letterman for joking on air that swallowing bags of heroin ranked among her top talents.
Ms Andrea Noceti, who competed in the Miss Universe competition in Puerto Rico last week, said Letterman insulted all Colombians and made light of the country's deadly drug-fuelled civil war.
Letterman has apologised, saying no offence was intended.
In his CBS network show's opening monologue on Friday, Letterman said Noceti had swallowed bagged heroin - a common form of smuggling the drug - to impress Miss Universe judges during the "talent" competition. Beauty queens are usually expected to play a musical instrument, paint or write.
