NEW DELHI - A 24 year old man committed suicide by setting himself on fire yesterday in protest against India staging the Miss World beauty pageant.
Suresh Kumar, a tailor, shouted anti pageant slogans as he set fire to himself at a bus stand in the southern city of Madurai.
The pageant, to be held in the southern city of Bangalore tomorrow week, has attracted protests ever since Indian film superstar Amitabh Bachchan announced it would be held in India for the first time.
