The rucksack belonging to a missing Irish backpacker has been found in an Argentinian hostel.

The hostel in El Calafate is close to the border with Chile and the Torres del Paine National Park.

It is believed Ronan Lawlor (28) from Durrow, Co Laois, stayed in the hostel before travelling to the park. He had been in regular contact with his family in Ireland until mid-November.

He spoke to them by telephone on November 17th and sent a text message to a friend on November 18th. It is believed he went into the 700-square-mile park, shared by Argentina and Chile, on November 22nd, but he has not been seen since.
