Scottish Open:Darren Clarke was never going to have it all his own way at Loch Lomond but the Dungannon man will have a job on his hands to overhaul the in-form Edoardo Molinari in the final round of the Scottish Open.

Overnight leader Clarke was again in sparkling form as he carded a 67 to move to 14-under-par but the Italian, who began the day three adrift of the Irishman, carded an eight-under-par 63 to move to 15 under.

Next in line are Molinari’s brother Francesco and Sweden’s Peter Hedblom, who are on eight under, six behind Clarke and seven off the lead.

After tasting victory at Adare Manor last weekend, Clarke would undoubtedly like to do so again on the Tour proper, but he'll also have one eye on Hedblom who is vying for the one remaining spot in next week's British Open at St Andrew's.

The Molinari's places are safe, leaving one spot available for the leading non-exempt player in the top five tomorrow night.

Ireland's Shane Lowry shot one of the rounds of the day to move to six under with a 66. Peter Lawrie picked up two to get back to level par but Damien McGrane dropped back to two under with a 73.

Graeme McDowell improved to three under thanks to a 68, though a 74 for Gareth Maybin saw him go in the other direction and settle on five over.
