JERUSALEM - The Israeli Prime Minister, Mr Benjamin Netanyahu, met Palestinian security officials yesterday as peace teams pressed ahead with efforts to close a deal on a long overdue Israeli troop pull back from Hebron, officials said.

A senior Palestinian said the session had paved the way for top level meetings between President Yasser Arafat, Mr Netanyahu and the Israeli Defence Minister, Mr Yitzhak Mordechai.

"I believe we are very close to completing the agreement, Mr Rajoub said. "The subjects of contention are limited."
