Cotabato - Moslem rebels who seized a school in the southern Philippines have freed about 40 children and 20 teachers after using them as human shields in their retreat overnight, police and local officials said last night.
The pupils, aged 7-12 and their teachers were turned over unharmed to a former Moslem guerrilla leader in the village of
Tumbras late last night and government vehicles from the town of Midsayap picked them up they said.
