Doncaster - A hospital last night denied it had turned away a pregnant woman hours before she gave birth at home on Christmas Day. The baby, who was born four months prematurely, died three hours after being rushed to hospital.

Doncaster Royal Infirmary said Ms Gemma White (21) asked to leave hospital after five hours of treatment against the advice of a medical team; they allowed her to go because she had another appointment scheduled for yesterday. The hospital trust said it regretted the "unfortunate circumstances" surrounding the woman's pregnancy and delivery.
