A Northern Ireland motorcyclist, Mr Donny Robinson, has died in hospital after crashing during the practice session on Tuesday night for Saturday's Coca-Cola NorthWest 200.

Mr Robinson (43), a father of two, from Cullybackey, Ballymena, Co Antrim, was taken to hospital after falling off and badly injuring his right foot. He was admitted to Coleraine Hospital in a critical condition where he died at 5 a.m. yesterday.

Mr Billy Nutt, Clerk of the Course, paid tribute to Mr Robinson. "It is devastating. He was a rider in a million. He was a fast and experienced rider, and encouraged all the young riders coming through."
