A Laois man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend told gardaí he stabbed her and was “angry” because she met another man, the Central Criminal Court has heard.

The court heard Gordon Molloy told Ciara Ní Chathmhaoil five weeks before her death he would kill her if he heard she was dating anyone else, but that he told gardaí he did not intend to kill her. Mr Molloy (24), Ballickmoyler, Co Laois, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Ms Ní Chathmhaoil (22) in November 2007.

The trial continues.
