A 23-year-old murder victim was buried in Belfast yesterday as a man appeared in court accused of his killing

A 23-year-old murder victim was buried in Belfast yesterday as a man appeared in court accused of his killing. Kevin Nelis (19), from Leeson Street, in the lower Falls Road area of the city, was charged with murdering Mr Kevin Taylor (23) who was stabbed to death last Sunday.

A detective inspector said when Nelis was charged he made no reply. A defence solicitor said Nelis would be contesting the charge. He was remanded in custody until October 8th.

Mr Taylor, of Lisvarna Heights in the lower Falls, died after a gang armed with knives, hammers and golf clubs burst into his home at 3 a.m.

Another man suspected of involvement in the killing is still under police guard in the Royal Victoria Hospital where he is recovering from a stab wound. A third man gave himself up to police yesterday and he is still being questioned.
