Timmy Murphy broke wrist after a fall from Emotional Article in the Tote Ireland 75th Anniversary Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown today.

The Tom Taaffe-trained gelding fell heavily and Murphy appeared to be kicked by several horses, including the winner Mansony, before being stretchered away from the scene to be taken for X-rays.

Murphy had been enjoying a successful afternoon, having won the Ellier Developments Novice Chase on Forget The Past.

Murphy, who succeeded Tony McCoy as stable jockey to Martin Pipe this season, had his most successful season cross-channel to date, finishing up with a career-best total of 143 winners when second to McCoy in the jockeys' championship.
