Cape Town - Muslim groups yesterday vowed to avenge the death of a protestor who died after being hit by a rubber bullet fired by police at a demonstration against the British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair.

"We want nothing less than the head of the one who instructed police to fire at the crowd on that day when Yusuf died," the leader of the vigilante group People against Gangsterism and Drugs (PAGAD), Mr Abdusalaam Ebrahim, told mourners at a rally before Mr Yusuf Jacobs' funeral.

Mr Jacobs (22), a PAGAD member who had converted to Islam to join the vigilante group, died in hospital under police custody yesterday morning after a rubber bullet fired by police at the protest hit him in the temple.
