The N3 road north of Navan is closed this afternoon following an earlier crash that killed a man.
It is understood the man who died was driving a van that collided with an oncoming truck and burst into flames.
The crash took place some five kilometres south of Kells.
A Garda spokesman said a "significant section" of the N3 is now closed and will remain so for the foreseeable future. A number of diversions are in place and lengthy delays are expected.
The cause of the crash or the extent of casualties, if any, are not known.
