Northern Secretary Mo Mowlam was not the only one that unionist talks delegate Dermot Nesbitt had to remind about his name. It will be recalled that it was her failure to recall his full name that led to last week's falling out with Ken Maginnis MP and the furious exchange between them. When the unionists left Dublin Castle on Tuesday evening to attend the London funeral of former colleague, Enoch Powell, Nesbitt, whether by accident or design, was one of the three left behind to hold the fort. He didn't do a Michael Collins and sign a treaty in their absence but he and his two colleagues were the only delegates from any party who had to introduce themselves to the media at their press conference.
