Students from St Michael's Loreto Convent in Navan are to mark the first anniversary of the Navan bus crash by selling a set of two keyrings promoting road safety.

The first keyring will bear the motto "Life is a gift. Drive with care," while the second will provide a message for the general public on road safety: "Caution. Distance. Life. Safety."

The first letter of each word in this keyring represents the name of each of the four students of the school who died in the crash which happened on May 23rd, 2005 - Claire McCluskey (18), Deirdre Scanlon (17), Lisa Callan (15) and Aimee McCabe (15). A fifth student, Sinéad Ledwidge (15), from Beaufort College, Navan, was also killed in the crash.

The project aims to provide funding for the children's unit of the Louth/Meath hospitals, and it is hoped to purchase a portable ventilator for children.
