London - The British government announced yesterday that it would extend its compensation scheme for people who suffered disabilities as a result of vaccination.
Hundreds of children, many now adults, were left brain-damaged over the last 30 years by immunisation programmes for diseases such as whooping cough, polio and measles.
The Social Security Secretary, Mr Alistair Darling, told parliament he would raise the payment threshold for those afflicted to £100,000 sterling from £40,000.
