DUBLIN will have a new weekly newspaper from this week when the Echo, formerly known as the Tallaght Echo distributed throughout the city's and suburbs.

The 64 page newspaper is currently available throughout the south county area with six editions and it is planned from this Friday to offer a seventh edition to cater for the rest of the city. The newspaper will sell for 45p and is printed by the Meath Chronicle.

The managing director and editor, Mr David Kennedy, said the company had been investigating this expansion, but with the news that the short lived weekly, the Leader, was to cease publication and become a daily evening newspaper it saw a chance to take over that weekly market.

Mr Kennedy said it was using its existing advertising base.
