that all the airline's flights from Dublin to Madrid and Barcelona will run on time today. He also said there should be no delays at Spanish airports.
"If anything the flights will be on time because there are less flights running," he said.
The Spanish airline has cancelled 24 per cent of its 1,019 flights because of the strike but most of these are internal. Flights between London and Madrid and Barcelona are also affected.
The airline spokesman said the company expects to meet with pilots tomorrow in an effort to prevent further one-day strikes threatened for July 10th, 17th and 24th and August 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th and 31st.
Holiday-makers have already suffered the impact of a strike by Balearic Island coach-drivers which ended yesterday. There were delays of over five hours for some passengers flying from Dublin, Cork and Shannon to the Spanish islands.
The drivers refused to take travellers to or from airports in Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza during the three-day strike.
Another strike is threatened for mid-July if agreement is not reached between the drivers and their management over a 17.5 per cent pay rise.
According to Aer Rianta, yesterday's delays affected about 1,200 passengers flying to and from Menorca.
Tour operators in Majorca, Ibiza and Menorca lost 10 million pesetas (euro 60 million) because of the 72-hour strike, according to the Spanish Interior Ministry.
