A barrister  involved in the Bloody Sunday Tribunal in Derry has said those blamed for the shootings should not face criminal proceedings.

Sir Louis Blom-Cooper QC said naming and shaming those responsible ought to be enough. Speaking on BBC's Breakfast With Frost yesterday, he said many of those involved on the day were now dead.

Sir Louis, one of the barristers involved in the inquiry, stressed he was speaking personally. Meanwhile, the brother of a man killed on Bloody Sunday has called on British soldiers to tell the truth about the event.

Mr Michael McKinney was speaking before a public meeting in west London to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. A group of right-wing demonstrators, including members of the National Front, staged a protest outside the meeting.

Mr McKinney, whose brother William was killed, said: "I would love all those concerned with the inquiry to come out and tell the truth."
