A jury has failed to reach a verdict in the trial of a Donegal man accused of sexually abusing his daughter 52 times over a three-year period. Judge Paul Carney sent the jury to a hotel last night and told them they would continue their deliberations tomorrow.

The 55-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to one charge of rape, 24 charges of oral rape and 27 of indecent and sexual assault on dates from 1994 to 1997, beginning when his daughter was about 12 years old.
