People in Northern Ireland are more worried about online fraud and identity theft than about gun crime, a new survey suggests.

Future Fears, a report by Visa voucher firm 3V, found 41 per cent of people in the North are concerned about being a victim of online fraud 2007 - more than are concerned about climate change (29 per cent) or gun crime (24 per cent).

The survey found almost half (49 per cent) of all online shoppers in Northern Ireland say they think twice about entering payment card details online because of fears that their cards may be cloned.

A quarter said shopping on unfamiliar websites concerns them most, and some 81 per cent of people said they would rather give their card details to a friend to get money from a cash machine on their behalf than trust entering them online.
