Snooker:Fergal O'Brien's campaign at the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield came to an end after the Dubliner lost 10-5 to Neil Robertson.
The Australian made sure of his last-16 place after a gruelling final session. The fourth frame of the session - 13th of the match - lasted one hour, nine minutes and was eventually settled by a re-spotted black.
Only two frames at the Crucible have lasted longer, with the record of an hour and a quarter set by Stephen Maguire and Mark King last year.
It was an important frame, and by taking it Robertson moved 8-5 in front rather than being hauled back to 7-6.
An 83 break took him 9-5 clear and the Melbourne native soon tied up the win with a break of 59 in the 15th and final frame.
Ryan Day became the third seeded player to crash out in the first round as Mark Davis followed namesake Steve into the last 16.
Davis - no relation to the six-time former champion - had only reached the second round once previously, when he lost to Peter Ebdon in 1995.
He also qualified in 1997, 2001 and 2008, only to lose on each occasion in the first round.
But the 37-year-old is enjoying the best season of his career while world number six Day has struggled for form, and Davis was a worthy 10-8 winner.
Davis is already a world snooker champion - of sorts - having landed the six-reds title earlier this season in Killarney. He will face Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen in the second round.
Day followed fellow seeds Mark King and Marco Fu in making a first-round exit.
Davis has climbed from 47th in the world to a comfortable top-32 berth for next season, meaning the pressure was off.
Davis said: “I enjoyed it. My main problem over the years has been my head, and I don’t enjoy too many games, but I really enjoyed this one.”
Earlier Ding Junhui made short work of wrapping up a 10-1 victory over Stuart Pettman.
The 23-year-old Chinese player led 8-1 overnight and needed just half an hour to book a second-round clash with either Shaun Murphy or Gerard Greene.
