Racing:Golden Jubilee Stakes and July Cup winner Starspangledbanner has been given the green light to continue his racing career with Aidan O'Brien.

The former Australian sprinter needed to head in quarantine immediately after his success at Newmarket on Friday but the decision has been taken to keep him in training.

He was originally sold to Coolmore with the intention of taking up stud duties in the southern hemisphere after a short European campaign but those plans have now been put on hold.

"Following extensive discussions, it has been decided that Starspangledbanner will race on this season," Coolmore Australia general manager Michael Kirwan said.

"On the basis of his devastating wins in both the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot and in the July Cup, it is evident that the horse is still improving.

"He has earned the right to be considered a great horse with his efforts so far and it would seem premature to retire a horse of this calibre at a time when he is proving himself a dominant performer.

"His feats to date mark him down as a special horse and Aidan O'Brien is keen to pursue further opportunities with him," he told www.aapracing.com.au.
